The red coat color in dogs is not as rare as you might think. Most of the popular dog breeds come in shades of red, auburn, ginger, rust, chestnut, and rich mahogany. They may have a solid red coat, while some, like the Irish Red and White Setter and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, come in gorgeous red and white colors.

There are breeds like the Vizsla and Redbone Coonhound for those looking for short-haired red breeds. On the other hand, the Irish Setter is an excellent long-haired red dog.
