Setters
The setter is a type of gun dog that’s sometimes grouped together with pointers. True to their name, setters are used to smell out the game, like small birds. Once they find it, they don’t chase after the game but stand still so you can hunt them.
There are 4 breeds of setter, that, along with the pointer, are included under the gun dog group in the United Kingdom. The setter breeds differ from each other in terms of size, bone structure, and head shape.
Setters are extremely athletic, and full of energy, needing plenty of exercise and activity to stay healthy. But they do make some of the best family dogs.
