Dog Breeds with Long Snouts
Long-nosed dogs were bred for herding livestock and guarding property. They have more olfactory receptors in their noses to pick up scents better. However, there is little scientific evidence to determine whether their sense of smell is better than short-nosed dogs.
Some long nose dogs, like greyhounds and whippets, were bred to create animals that could run fast due to their streamlined bodies. Having a long snout gave these dogs an aerodynamic build, letting them run at blazing speeds.
