Sable Dogs

Sable is one of the most popular dog coat colors, with the list of sable-coated breeds being pretty long. The unique ombre-effect results from their coat hairs having a lighter base and black tips. The base color can range from brown, chocolate, red, and tan to blue and gray or almost any shade.

The coloration results from a dominant gene, which means a single sable gene would be enough to produce a sable puppy. The German Shepherd is probably the most recognizable sable breed, but there are plenty of others equally charming.
