The Cheaglehund is a small cross known for its cute looks and well-disposed temperament. Genetically, it is half the Chihuahua, and one-fourth of both the Beagle and the Dachshund. The Cheaglehunds often have short legs like the dachshunds, standing close to the ground level with an upright tail. They have brown eyes, floppy ears, black or pink nose, and a long muzzle.

Temperament and Behavior

Having more of Chihuahua in it, it tends to be alert and enthusiastic. However, it has also inherited the sober and friendly nature of the Beagle.

This lap dog can typically make a good family companion, also getting along well with children. Not enjoying the cold weather, they would sleep close to you under the blanket. The combination of protectiveness and affection keeps them extremely loyal all their life.

These indoor dogs can be submissive and nervous at times. They are intelligent, but like Dachshunds, some might be fond of agility and activities or can even display independence or aggression at times, resulting in barking behavior.

Care

Exercise

They are energetic and needs moderate level of exercise like all other dogs of its size. Take them out for a walk or short jog every day.

Grooming

Requirement of grooming is average. Simply brush their coat a couple of times or three every week. Bathe only when you think is necessary.

Health Problems

They are not known to be having major health concerns, except for their propensity towards seizure disorders and some dermatological issues.

Training

Obedience: While your pup is barking too frequently, simply throw your command “stop barking” and hold a treat near its mouth. It might get busy in sniffing the treat and forget barking for a while. Give him the reward after he has remained quite for a few seconds. Keep increasing the time from when it stops barking to giving off the treat.

Socialization: It is required to help them to get rid of their nervous and submissive nature.

Agility: Do not begin with jumps right away. Begin with getting your pup used to walk through different kinds of surfaces like wood planking, rugs, sidewalks, etc.

Diet/Feeding

General dog diet consisting of healthy dog recipes (if you can make), or dry kibbles, similar to any other small-size dog.
