The Papeagle is a cross between the Papillon and the Beagle. These small size dogs are known for their docile temperament and sad, expressive eyes. The Papeagles have a light, athletic stature with a triangular head, loosely-hanging ears, and a big, dark nose. Their legs are slim but sturdy, while the furry tail is straight and held upwards.

Temperament and Behavior

Papeagles are extremely well-behaved, polite and obedient dogs that can easily win your heart with their overall sweet nature. All these qualities make them an amazing family dog.Though not a very active breed, they are especially fond of their owners and family members and love being around them, constantly wagging their tails. However, a few individuals might display shy behavior when they are around strangers.

Papeagles are typically good with kids and other pets in the family, including cats and other dogs. Though it is alert by nature, it barks very little, which does not make them a good guard dog. They are comfortable with all climatic changes; however, they should not be exposed to the extreme weather conditions for long.

Care

Exercise

The exercise requirement of the Papeagle is less to moderate. But, never skip the daily exercise routine. They are small dogs with less activity, and hence, their energy needs to find some way out. This can be fulfilled by taking them out for walks and jogs for 20-30 minutes every day. Encourage them to play with your kids, or you yourself can show up in the playground to give it company. If your dog is playing inside an enclosed space, keep its leash away.

Grooming

Grooming the Papeagle is quite easy. Their short coat needs only a little brushing for about twice a week. Bathe them once a month, or may be when you feel it is dirty.

Health Problems

There are no definitive diseases that this breed possesses. However, some reports say that their eyes are sometimes a little weepy.

Training

Since Papeagles are practically no-problem dogs, you would hardly find any behavioral issues in them, except for some minor ones like shyness or small dog syndrome (which is mostly common in all small-size dogs). For that, all you need to do is present your puppy to more and more strangers, or take them to dog parks, where they can see other dogs of different sizes playing with each other willingly.

Ask your friends to visit you, if possible, with their dogs. Hand over its snacks box to your friends, asking them to give it a couple of treats, talk to them, or play with a toy like a ball. Involve your friend’s dog in the act, if he/she has one. This would gradually develop a sense of natural friendliness in general towards all new faces they come across.

Diet/Feeding

Papeagles are choosy eaters. So keep an eye on its food habits so that your dog gets the perfect nutrition, especially during its budding age. About 2 cups of dry dog food/kibble are enough for its daily nutrition. Divide the quantity into two separate meals.
