The Daisy Dog is a unique mix between the Shih-Tzu, the Bichon Frise, and the Poodle. With their adorable looks and a sweet temperament, these little size crossbreeds make a perfect family dog. These dogs are not very common, and if you desire to adopt a puppy as a pet, it might be a little tough for you to find one easily. These wooly dogs have a wide, round head with floppy ears, round black eyes, short muzzle ending in a dark, triangular stop. These well-mannered dogs would keep you entertained all day by their sweet expressions, and making interestingly funny faces.

Temperament and Behavior

The daisies have an extremely loving nature with a friendly, welcoming demeanor. Adaptable and modest as they are, they rarely yap or shout, nor are they hyper towards other pets or kids. Their sociable nature made them enjoy human company as also tolerant towards strangers. However, they wouldn’t miss alerting their masters if they sense anything unusual.

They love to play and cherish each and every moment in the company of its family members. They also cherish attention and are ready to do anything to win the favor of their masters.

Care

Exercise

The Daisies are active and energetic by nature and hence need a pretty good amount of exercise and activities every day. Take them out for at least one long walk or a jog session. If you would let your dog loose from its leash in an open (but enclosed) yard, it would enjoy the moments running and playing around with you and your family friends. This should also keep it happy and mentally sound.

Grooming

Take proper care of its long, silky coat. Brush it at least twice to thrice a week to ensure that the coat retains its natural sheen and smoothness. This would also keep the coat from frequently getting matted. These dogs can have both long and medium coats. If your dog has its coat long, you can clip its coat when the hairs have grown too big to interfere with its normal vision. But it is best if you seek professional help.

Regardless of their type of coat type, these Dogs need other basic grooming on a regular basis like brushing their teeth, cleaning their ears and trimming their nails. Some owners also enjoy ornamenting their Daisy dogs with accessories like tags, collars, etc.

Health Problems

The Daisies are generally a healthy breed and, like most other crossbreeds, do not have any specific ailments or diseases. However, you just can’t ward off common health issues seen in other dog breeds, or even the heredity factors. It is also important to be well-informed about the genetic histories of its bloodline. Make sure, you get your puppy from an honest breeder who can provide you with its health clearance certificate.

Training

The highly intelligent Daisy Dogs are ever eager to see you smile and satisfied, thus making them easy to train. Socialize them from an early age by introducing them to your children and other pets. Ask your friends and relatives to step in so that your new pup gets acquainted with new faces.

They respond well to praise and other ways of positive reinforcement. You can give them food rewards as well just to show that you appreciate. But do hold its rein in strict hands. Act as the leader of its pack. This should keep a check on any possible cases of misbehavior in future.

Diet/Feeding

Serve them high-quality kibbles if you would prefer a dry food for your dog. Otherwise, stick to the same diet routine as the other dogs of its size, activity and energy levels.

Interesting Facts

  • The Daisy Dog does not do well in hot or warm temperatures.
  • These dogs are proud possessors of all the personal things of fun and comfort that you would gift them, like toys, blankets, etc.
